Our Take

The Logitech POP Keys exists because someone at Logitech looked at the mechanical keyboard market full of black rectangles and said “what if we made it fun.” The result is the most personality-forward keyboard from a major manufacturer.

The retro round keycaps are the first thing you notice. They look like typewriter keys, but they are mounted on proper mechanical switches (Logitech Brown tactile). The typing experience is clicky and satisfying with a distinct pop on each keystroke, which matches the name better than any marketing copy could.

The emoji keys are a genuine feature, not a gimmick. Four physical emoji keys sit in the top right corner. You get four more in the box to swap in. Press them and the corresponding emoji types instantly in any app. It saves exactly three seconds per emoji, and somehow that is enough to change your behavior.

Wireless via Bluetooth with support for three simultaneous device connections. Swap between your PC, tablet, and phone with dedicated buttons. Battery life is rated at up to three years on two AAA batteries. That is not a typo.

The colorways are what make this relevant for cozy setups. Daydream Mint is a soft green and cream. Heartbreaker Rose is pink and burgundy. Blast Yellow is loud and playful. Each one looks like a piece of furniture rather than a computer peripheral.

The drawback is the closed ecosystem. Logitech proprietary switches mean you cannot swap in Cherry MX keycaps from other makers. If you want to customize beyond what Logitech offers, you are out of luck. The compact layout also sacrifices the function row and numpad, which matters for certain games.

the good stuff

Why We Like It

The round typewriter-style keycaps are genuinely distinctive. Comes with 8 swappable emoji keys (4 on the board, 4 in the box). Connects via Bluetooth to 3 devices simultaneously. The Daydream Mint and Heartbreaker Rose colorways are particularly cozy. Battery lasts up to 3 years on AAA batteries.

Things to Know

The compact layout drops the numpad and function row, which is a dealbreaker for some. The mechanical switches are Logitech proprietary, so you cannot swap keycaps from other brands. Sound profile is clacky and loud. But for the price, the aesthetic and build quality are hard to beat.
